The Vision: Sometimes the best projects begin when you least expect them. After completing the design of this spec home, a chance conversation with the future homeowner during a site visit led to an entirely new opportunity. They loved the home's architectural foundation and wanted to build upon it without losing its original character. The vision was to honor the modern farmhouse framework while introducing a moodier, more layered perspective that reflected their own personality and lifestyle.

 

The Approach: Rather than reinventing the home, we embraced the architectural details already in place—particularly the striking black doors and window frames—which became the inspiration for the overall design direction. Rich textures, tailored furnishings, and thoughtfully layered materials softened the bold architectural elements, creating interiors that feel both sophisticated and approachable. Across the first floor and basement, every piece was selected to encourage comfort, conversation, and effortless everyday living, allowing the home to feel collected rather than newly furnished.

 

The Outcome: The finished home feels like a natural evolution of the architecture that first drew the homeowners in. It balances modern farmhouse warmth with a more refined, contemporary edge, creating spaces that are inviting, timeless, and full of character. More importantly, it transformed a beautifully built house into a home that feels deeply personal—a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful collaborations begin with nothing more than being in the right place at the right time.​
